‘Tech’ is a catch-all word the Trenith use for the wonders of lost ages; it functions as both a noun and an adjective. The Tinkers are quick to tell anyone who’ll listen that most likely there have been several civilizations to have risen and fallen in Die-Sun, as not all tech is compatible with each other. It’s generally used to describe mechanical marvels; the marks of genetic engineering on animals, plants, and people are more subtle and not as readily apparent as an electrical generator or a flat sheet of metal that floats six inches off the ground.
At least one generation of tech-engineers mastered the art of self-repair; many broken pieces of tech, if buried underground for a period, will be restored to functioning order. Many others operate using a uniform style of energy storage much like a battery; locating stores of these (called ‘charges’) is one of the primary responsibilities of the White Tooth Lodge. Unused charges are often used as an unofficial form of currency among the Trenith.
